XBASE 999 Sample Editor 1. Download the tool from the directory http://www.jomox.de/download/XBASE999/SampleEditor and store it to a folder on your hard disc, eg. C:/XBASE999/. Unzip and select "Extract to here". 2. Start the application. On the left side you can see a list of sample banks at your choice. The banks 1-4 (909, 808, CR7 und JMX) are fixed and cannot be changed by the user. 3. Select a midi interface from the list "MIDI OUT Port" and choose the midi channel of the XBASE 999. Please make sure that the XBASE 999's midi in is hooked up with a cable to the computer midi out. 4. Select a sample bank, for instance S05. In the right list you see the separate instruments to be chosen. At any time you can reset them to default by clicking on "Reset to default". The default samples that are in the machine on factory delivery are automatically reloaded then. 5. Open a sound file (*.WAV or *.AIF) into the desired instrument of the right list by clicking on "Open". The tool cuts or extends the sample to the correct size and segments the memory automatically. You have to consider nothing, the tool converts the sample rate automatically to the internal XBASE 999 format. Supported sample rates are: 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96kHz. 8, 16 or 24 Bit Mono/Stereo. On stereo samples left and right are mixed together to a mono sample. 6. Click on the button "Send to XBASE 999", and the tool will transmit the midi sample dump to the XBASE 999. On OS version >= 1.06 the dump is automatically received which is indicated by the LEDs on the machine showing the progress of flash memory programming. On the tool a bar indicates the progress. The transmission of one bank takes about 95 seconds. Important: If you have OS 1.05 or less in your machine you have to do the following: Turn your XBASE 999 off and on again. During the "Welcome..." screen press button "1" to keep the XBASE 999 in the bios firmware update reception mode which is indicated by "OS SysEx dump required". Leave the tool's midi channel on 1 because the bios works only fixed on channel 1. Now you can start the sample dump. You can edit and transmit as many sample banks as you want. For normal operation, just turn it off and on again and boot it normal. The samples are now in the instruments. From OS 1.06 on you don't have to do this and you can leave the XBASE 999 in normal operation, regardless of what you are just doing.
